How To Select a Construction Firm

Whether you hire us or not, we want to educate you about how to select a construction firm. Here's what to look for:

  • Get references from previous customers so you can ask them how satisfied they were with the work done.

  • Ask to visit a current project to determine if the contractor keeps household disruption to a minimum during construction.

  • Get a copy of the construction firm's license.

  • Ask if the construction firm has a certified building inspector on staff, as has Costa Construction & Son L.L.C. Having someone on staff who can make certain that construction adheres to the latest building codes will save time and money by avoiding delays caused by failure to meet building codes that are updated yearly.

  • Beware of contractors who routinely underbid and then find ways to "puff up" the final price or inadvertently fail to foresee costly problems, such as rotting or termite-infested wall studs, floor beams or other damage, or fail to point out changes that may be needed in other parts of the house to match new construction design or colors.

  • Ask if the firm is a member of the Better Business Bureau, as is Costa Construction & Son L.L.C.
